Using the Rooster HotKeys Main Menu

  • Support Page: This button takes you to the 'Support Page' for

  • Rooster Web Extensions: This button takes you to the main page of Rooster Web Extensions.

  • Import Keybindings: Import the JSON file for your keybindings.

  • Export Keybindings: Export the JSON file for your current keybindings.

  • Close: This button closes the Rooster HotKeys for LingQ menu in Rooster Master LingQ Premium.

  • Rooster HotKeys for LingQ - PREMIUM: Drag the Rooster HotKeys menu by selecting and dragging this section.

Tip: Click the 'Re-bind' button in the 'Re-bind' column to create a new keybind. After clicking the 'Re-bind' button, enter your new key/key combination to create your new keybind.

Toggle Lesson Translation:

In LingQ's Page mode, toggle your lessons translation on/off.

Translate Sentence:

In LingQ's sentence mode, toggle your sentence translation (on/off)/prompt LingQ to translate your sentence (if you have no translation text for your lesson yet).

Remove Colours:

Remove the highlighting from all your text while reading. Note: Use this key combination when you want a reading experience more like reading an article/book.

Activate the text-to-speech for current LingQ or phrase.

Play Sentence Audio:

In LingQ's sentence mode, activate the audio for your sentence.

Toggle Audio:

Spacebar

Toggle the Lesson Audio On/Off.

Rewind Audio:

Ctrl + x

In LingQ's Listen mode, rewind your audio until you find your desired starting point.

Rewind Audio Five:

Shift + <

In LingQ's Listen mode, rewind your audio for 5 seconds at a time.

Forward Audio Five:

In LingQ's Listen mode, fast forward your audio for 5 seconds.

Change Playback Speed:

Open and close the native Lesson Settings menu.

Troubleshooting Guide

Quick Reference Trouble Shooting When a Key Shortcut Isn’t Working.

General Best Practices

  • Don’t set two Keybindings to the same key combination (they may conflict and stop working).

  • Exit out of the LingQ Tab when you’re not using it (i.e., end of day/study session) to prevent shortcuts from going out.

  • Refresh the LingQ tab after long periods of inactivity.

  • Rebind problematic Keybindings to a different key combination to complete your desired action.

  • Report the error to @Roosterburton on the Support Page for Rooster HotKeys.

Trouble Shooting Path 1

  1. Check if the keybinding that isn’t working has the same key combinations as another.

  2. If one does, change one of the keybindings to a different key combination to prevent conflict.

  3. Refresh the page and test the new key binding.

Trouble Shooting Path 2

  1. Reset Binds (wait until the page refreshes).

  2. Toggle the extension off.

  3. Refresh the page, Toggle the extension on again, and try the shortcut again (sometimes this works after that).

Trouble Shooting Path 3

  1. Reset Binds (wait until the page refreshes).

  2. Toggle the extension off.

  3. Open the page (you want to use the keyboard shortcuts for) in a New Tab (make sure to close the tab you were trying to get the shortcuts to work with—the tab/page may have been open too long).

  4. Toggle the extension on again.

  5. Refresh the New Tab from Step 3.

  6. Reset binds and rebind the shortcuts (with Rooster extension) to whatever you want.

  7. Use/test the shortcut.

  8. Repeat steps 1-7 until the shortcuts work again if steps 1-7 don’t work the first time.

When using Trouble Shooting Path 3 you may have to skip around and do any number of these combinations to get the key combination to work.
