Rooster Master LingQ Premium [Comprehensive Guide]

Master LingQ Menu

  • Support: Click this button to navigate to the Web Browser Extensions (Software) for LingQ support page to get help, leave feedback, or suggest a feature.

  • Light Or Dark: Switch from Light to Dark mode or Dark to light mode with this button:

  • Close: Close the Rooster Master LingQ Menu.

  • Nav (Rooster Navigation): Easily navigate your courses/lessons and playlists with multiple lesson opening and navigation options for learners:

Language Icon: Change the language you study and navigate to its content.

Tip: Click the Menu button to return to the main Rooster Navigation menu.

Courses: Navigate your LingQ courses in a compact popup:

Playlists: Navigate to and edit the data of your LingQ playlists.

  • HotKeys (Rooster HotKeys): Opens a comprehensive (movable) keybinding menu with standard keybindings and additional custom controls to speed up your study session with quick key actions:

  • Editor (Rooster Lesson Editor): Edit LingQ lessons in a simple yet powerful menu. Menu displays in a popup over the reader page:

  • Reader (Rooster Reader): Autoscrolling LingQ reader with numerous modes to enhance your reading sessions in LingQ. Clicking this button opens the Rooster Reader set up in a new tab:

  • Long (Rooster Long-LingQ): Displays the lesson in a large block that allows you to highlight phrases longer than 9 words (the phrase-lingQing limit set by LingQ) and up to 18 words/128 characters over multiple lines.

Create Automatic LingQs (Rooster Auto LingQ)

Basic Information: Easily LingQ all your ‘blue’ words with one click. This button automatically selects the longest definition saved for each new ‘blue’ word in your current lesson. The idea is that longer definitions are generally better than the most popular definitions, according to LingQ.

Display Lesson LingQs (Rooster LingQ Observer)

Displays multiple scrolling menus for New, LingQed, Known, and Ignored words — according to your LingQ data for a selected lesson.

Create, display, and edit all your LingQ lesson words — including your lesson's LingQ statuses — using these menus while in LingQ's reader mode.

Note: Sometimes, it may take a little extra time for the Rooster LingQ Observer to populate your requested LingQs in the scrollable window. In these cases, you will see a blank menu; please wait while your LingQs are gathered.

Main (Rooster LingQ Observer)

Displays the traditional four LingQ Observer scrolling menus for your New, LingQed, Known, and Ignored words according to your LingQ data.

Note: All four menus are displayed only when the selector to the far right is on All. To display select menus in various combinations — New and LingQed words, New and Ignored words, Known and Ignored words, etc. — expand the selector and click the menu you wish to see displayed under the Display Lesson LingQs button. (Repeat this action until your desired scrolling menus are displayed.):

Tip: If you wish to display 3 menus at once, make sure your selector on the far right is on All and close the scrolling menu of the category that you don’t want to work within your current study session:

Features of Scrollable Menus

  • Close individual scrollable menus you no longer need in your current study session:

LTE (Rooster Observer LTE): Pull up potential LingQs (‘blue’ words) in a compact and scrollable popup where you can LingQ New words.

  • Ignore Latin: For learning with non-Latin-based scripts/Asian scripts that contain Latin characters, quickly mark Ignore on words with Latin characters using a simple click of the Ignore Latin button.

Zip Lesson Files (Rooster Lesson Extractor)

Basic Information: ZIPs all lesson data and also creates ANKI cards.

Alerts for Dangerous Buttons — Always On

Basic Information: This setting will alert you when you're about to do something that may affect your study session or LingQ stats.

For example, an alert popup will appear if you have new words (‘blue’ highlighted words) in the lesson and you click the Finish lesson button.

How to 'Create Automatic LingQs' with the 'Defined' button (7 Steps)

1. Select a LingQ lesson with 'blue' words:

2. Navigate to the 'Rooster Master LingQ' Menu. Click the 'Create Automatic LingQs' button:

3. Click the 'Defined' button:

4. A popup will open showing 'Rooster Automatic LingQs' progress. Wait for the LingQs to completely save:

5. Wait until you see this message:

6. Refresh your lesson to load the added LingQs onto your reader display:

7. See the LingQs that changed from 'blue' words to 'yellow' words in LingQ's reader mode:
